Arthur Nagel Community Clinic
The mission of the Arthur Nagel Community Clinic is to improve Bandera County health by providing medical care to eligible residents and promoting health education. The clinic’s vision is healthier lives across Bandera County.
In 2017, the clinic will provide more than 3,000 appointments to neighbors and friends. Patients must be Bandera County residents and qualify by income and by not having insurance. Once qualified, care delivered at the clinic is free. There is a Prescription Assistance Program through which the clinic works with pharmaceutical companies to provide free prescriptions to clinic patients. When health concerns go beyond those that can be managed at the clinic, the clinic provides a referral service.
The Well-Woman program at the clinic provides annual examinations for female patients. Working with Christus Santa Rosa, a mobile mammography unit visits the clinics each quarter and patients can receive free mammograms. RiskBusters, a prevention program, is available to all patients. RiskBusters promotes lifestyle changes—healthy eating and active living—to improve general health and specific activities to help those with chronic diseases take better care of themselves. Recognizing that sometimes taking care of yourself is made more difficult by depression and anxiety, the clinic’s newest program provides counseling.
The clinic sees adults ages 19 and up. For seniors, the clinic provides care for those who have only Medicare A. See the clinic’s website, www.nagelclinic.org, for more information.
